Auntie Maureen's Brown Bread

This brown bread is delicious, filling, and moist. The crust comes out as the perfect balance between crunchy and crumbly.

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine:

  • 2 c. (heaping) White Flour
  • 1 c. (heaping) Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/3 c. Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp. (rounded) Baking Soda

Separately Mix:

  • 3 c. Buttermilk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 c. Corn Oil
  • 3/2 c. Kellog’s All-Bran cereal

Combine wet and dry after All-Bran softens.

Grease and flour wide pan. After about 15 minutes of baking, cut a cross in the crust, and cover loosely in tin foil. Bake for a little over 45 minutes more, until a clean dry knife inserted in the middle comes out mostly clean. Let cool a few minutes. Remove from pan.
