Biscuits
Good, basic Southern-style dinner biscuits.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix:
- 1 c. Flour
- 1/2 tbsp. Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Baking Powder
Add a little at a time:
- 3 tbsp. chilled Vegetable Shortening
Rub shortening softly between forefingers to incorporate the flour. Continue until all the shortening is reduced to oatmeal flake-size pieces.
Stir in:
- 1/2 c. Buttermilk
Spread dough on floured surface, cutting into biscuit-sized circles. Place on a cookie sheet on the center rack for about 12 minutes, until golden brown.
